View Royal Neighbourhood Overview

The Town of View Royal is located along the north shore of the Portage Inlet and Esquimalt Harbour. Both the TransCanada Highway and the Old Island Highway provide easy access to Downtown Victoria and to the rest of Vancouver Island. The very popular Galloping Goose Trail runs through View Royal.

Houses, condominiums and townhomes in View Royal tend to be newer and more affordable, often giving families more bang for their buck. While outside of the “core”, parts of View Royal are on the ocean and it boasts 70 municipal parks, over 25 kilometres of trails.  And it is only a 20 minute drive to downtown Victoria.

The Town of View Royal also has a rich history. Craigflower Manor, which was one of the four original farms set up by the Hudson‘s Bay Company was built in 1856. And Craigflower School was built in1855. Much like Cordova Bay in Saanich East, in the early part of the 1900s, as Victoria grew, people built summer cottages along View Royal’s shoreline.

What We Love

Thetis Lake Park with its sandy beach, warm lake and miles of walking trails, which are  perfect for picnics and leisurely hiking with your favourite 4 legged friend.

The Galloping Goose Trail for stress free weekend cycling or weekday commuting to Victoria. And View Royal’s two historic pubs, the Four Mile Public House and the Six Mile Public House are both about 150 years old.
